Diskin, Yehoshua Leib
(1817-98)
   Russian rabbi and halakhist. He was born in Grodno and served as a rabbi in various Russian cities. He opposed the religious authorities, was imprisoned, and in 1887 emigrated to Palestine. He settled in Jerusalem, where he served as a rabbi and was in the vanguard of Orthodox activism. He founded an orphanage and directed the Ohel Moshe yeshivah.
